Q: Can anyone join NAWBO?
A: Membership is open to sole proprietors, partners
and corporate owners with day-to-day management responsibility.
Although anyone can join, most of our programs and opportunities
are geared toward entrepreneurs.
Q: What are the benefits of joining NAWBO?
A: NAWBO membership offers opportunities for the woman
business owner to reach business goals and maintain a competitive
edge through training, education, corporate connection, educational
and financial assistance opportunities, networking, peer support,
public policy, certification, scholarships, annual awards
and direct discount programs. Members receive a monthly newsletter
and the chance to be a mentor for a new business owner and
many other volunteer opportunities.
Q: How can I join NAWBO-CA?
A: NAWBO-CA is a consortium of nine NAWBO chapters throughout the state. NAWBO-CA represents more than 1.2 million women business owners statewide. To become part of NAWBO-CA you can join the local chapter nearest you or become an "at large" member of NAWBO national. When you join a local chapter you automatically become part of NAWBO-CA and NAWBO national. Chapters are located in Desert Cities, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Orange County, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Ventura.
Q: What do local NAWBO chapters have to offer?
A: Most chapters meet once a month. Whether over lunch
or dinner, a speaker is invited to give a presentation on
a topic of interest to women business owners. There are many
opportunities to network and volunteer for the chapter. The
more involved you are with your local chapter, the more you
will get out of it, whether it is business contacts, peer
support and camaraderie or information pertinent to running
a business in California.
Q: What if I am not sure if I want to join?
A: Most chapters will allow guests to attend up to three
meetings before joining (the number varies depending on the
chapter). Non-members usually pay a higher price for the meeting.
Q: Who belongs to NAWBO?
A: Women business owners who operate in every sector including
manufacturing, construction, agribusiness and retail, as well
as high growth industries such as health, business and professional
services.
Q: Can I join on a trial membership?
A: Membership to NAWBO is renewed on an annual basis.
Dues vary from chapter to chapter. Visit the web site of the
